Three tasks run at the same time. You steer the aircraft past obstacles with the arrow keys, and every second you keep flying is +3 points. SPACE switches you to the question screen, where you type the answer you heard on the number keys and submit it with ENTER. Meanwhile one of the gauges climbs towards red — when the needle touches the line, press C, V, B or N. Try it with the module's own Start button — no sign-up needed.
Time Sharing does not measure a single skill — it measures how you divide time between tasks. Three tasks run simultaneously: you steer the aircraft past obstacles, answer the question in your headset and watch the needles on the gauges. Each task has its own points and its own penalty; the difficulty is not in any one task but in keeping all three alive at once.

The first channel is navigation. Every second the aircraft keeps moving is +3 points, so keeping it in the air sets the floor of your score. SPACE switches between the aircraft screen and the question screen, and the arrow keys steer the aircraft past the obstacles. On its own this is the easiest channel — the difficulty starts when the other two tasks stack on top of it.
Time Sharing measures not your speed on one task but how you split attention across three channels. Keeping the aircraft flying while waiting for the right moment to hit the gauge, answering the question you hear in between, and deciding which task to drop and when — that is multitasking capacity.
Every second the aircraft advances is +3 points; staying in the air sets your score floor.
Pressing before the needle reaches the red line is a false alarm: −20 points.
Submitting an empty box costs −20; a correct answer earns +20.

Yes. Pressing before the needle reaches the red line counts as a false alarm and costs 20 points. That is why the monitoring task is not a pure reaction-speed test but a test of waiting for the right moment: the fingers wait ready, but the key is not pressed until the needle actually touches red.
SPACE switches between navigation and audio mode. You type the answer on the numeric keypad and submit it with ENTER. A correct answer earns 20 points; a wrong answer, or an ENTER pressed with an empty box, costs 20 points. The faster you answer, the more questions you get through and the higher your score.
Yes — the + key replays the question and there is no limit on how often you use it. What matters is using it at the right moment; every replay takes time away from the aircraft and the gauges.
Entering the number you heard, basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), percentage calculations, finding the largest / smallest / second value in a number sequence, and counting odd and even numbers. Answers are written as whole numbers, without a thousands separator.
The course notes are clear: not pressing ENTER on the last questions you are unsure about can prevent a loss, because an empty submit counts as wrong. Sacrificing a question you cannot solve can also be strategic time management — if a question is slowing you down, returning to the aircraft and the gauges usually earns more points.
Yes. The module is structured to start at a basic level and increase in difficulty. With regular practice you can adapt to carrying all three channels at once.
The module runs in the browser and requires no download. Because keyboard control (SPACE, arrow keys, C-V-B-N, numeric keypad) is central to it, desktop use is recommended. Headphones are advised for the auditory task.
