SONIC MULTITASKING · ONE TASK IS SPOKEN · 5 MINUTES

APTITUDE TESTS
Sonic Multitasking

Three tasks at once, and one of them you can only hear. On the left, name the direction of the arrow among four shapes. Top right, judge a four-number sum. Bottom right, seven letters of the phonetic alphabet are spoken once — Alpha, Bravo, Charlie — and you say whether any of them was repeated. The test lasts five minutes. Turn your sound on.

How it works

Sound is required. The letter buttons stay dead while the letters are playing; after the last letter you have five seconds to answer. There is no replay. In practice a mistake pauses all three tasks and the same seven letters are read again after Continue; in the test each answer gets a tick or a cross and nothing more.

Module logic

Eyes on two tasks.
Ears on the third.

The audio task changes the nature of the test: you cannot look back at what you heard. The three steps below are what to know first.

STEP 01

Two tasks to see, one to hear

The arrow task gives you eight seconds to name the direction of the one arrow among four shapes. The sum is four numbers added and subtracted in order, with no time limit of its own. The third task is spoken: seven phonetic-alphabet letters, read once, and you answer Duplicate or No duplicate. The next arrow arrives a second after you answer it; the next sum a little sooner.

What it measures

Hear it once.
Answer it later.

Mixing an auditory task with two visual ones tests a different kind of capacity: holding a spoken list while your eyes are busy elsewhere.

01 / AUDITORY MEMORY

Seven letters, read once.

The spoken task is the one you cannot look back at. The letters arrive while you are working on the arrows and the sums, and the answer is only accepted after the last letter. What is measured is how well a heard list survives visual work.

02 / VISUAL SEARCH

One arrow among shapes.

Eight seconds per item, direction only.

03 / ARITHMETIC

Four numbers in order.

A wrong printed answer is always a little too high.

04 / NO REPLAY

There is no second listen.

Missed letters stay missed; the item times out five seconds after the list.

Included with PRO

Let every test run write your next study plan.

Every TEST run you finish is analysed automatically. The useful part is not the single score — it is seeing whether speed or accuracy is what holds you back, and whether the next run is actually better than the last.

01

Accuracy and pace

Every TEST run is broken down into what you got right and how fast you worked — answers per minute and time per answer — so you can see whether speed or accuracy is the thing holding the score back.

02

Score trend across runs

Your runs are kept, so the report shows whether you are actually improving and compares your latest run with the earlier ones. On the multitasking modules and Grid Challenge it also breaks the result down task by task.

03

How you compare

The PRO report places your result among other CadetPro candidates on the same module, which is a more honest yardstick than a raw score on its own.

04

Consistency, error balance and study notes

How steady you are from run to run, where your errors cluster, and short study notes written for that pattern — the part of the report that tells you what to practise next.

What these tests are and how to prepare:

Aon-style aptitude tests guide →
What is the Sonic Multitasking test?

It is a five-minute, three-task test in which one task is audio only: seven phonetic-alphabet letters are spoken and you say whether one was repeated, while you also name the direction of an arrow among shapes and judge a four-number sum.

Do I need headphones?

You need sound. Headphones help in a noisy room because the letters are spoken once and there is no replay in the test.

When can I answer the letter task?

Only after the seventh letter has been read. The buttons are inactive while the letters are playing, and the item counts as missed if you do not answer within five seconds of the last letter.

How is it scored?

The arrow and sum tasks are scored on accuracy and on how many you answered; the letter task on accuracy alone. The three task scores are averaged.

Is practice mode free?

Yes. PRACTICE mode needs no purchase: open the module from a free CadetPro account. It has no clock and no score, and it explains your mistakes. The timed TEST mode and the full performance report are part of PRO.

What does PRO add?

The TEST mode, which recreates exam conditions with the real clock and the scoring described above, and a performance report for every TEST run — accuracy, pace and your score trend across runs, with deeper analysis on top.

Where are tests like this used?

Aon-style aptitude batteries (the cut-e family of short online tests) are commonly reported by candidates in pilot selection at flight schools and airlines — FTE Jerez, OSM Aviation Academy, Jet2, flynas and Wizz Air are among the names that come up in candidate reports. Which tests are used, and how, differs by employer and intake and changes over time, so always go by the invitation you receive.

Is this the official Aon or cut-e test?

No. CadetPro is an independent preparation platform and is not affiliated with Aon, cut-e or any airline or flight school. Our modules are original builds modelled on publicly described task types; they are not copies of any official test, and practising here does not guarantee any result in a selection process.
