Every question shows six patterns whose class is already given — three green, three grey. A single hidden rule separates the two classes. Work out that rule, then classify four new patterns: exactly two green and two grey. There is no partial credit — all four must be right for the question to count.
The test never tells you the rule; it shows you examples of it working and expects you to reconstruct it. The pool is finite — fifteen rules in seven families — so preparation is not about being cleverer on the day, it is about recognising a family in seconds. The five steps below are the order in which they are worth learning.
This is where most candidates lose questions before they start. Grey does not mean a faulty pattern — it is simply the class that does not satisfy the hidden rule. Marking a pattern grey earns exactly as much as marking one green. Each pattern carries two circles underneath: the upper one is green, the lower one is grey. On the six examples they are already filled in for you; on the four answers they are yours to set.

A hypothesis that fits all three green patterns can still be wrong. Showing that it fails on a grey one is the step candidates skip — and the most expensive omission in the test.
Fifteen rules will not fit into a minute, so the order carries the work: character type, the four corners, the middle cell, parity and range, repeats — and only then sums.
Navigation is free and the questions do not adapt, so a stall costs only time. The score curve is steepest in the middle, which makes two easy questions worth more than one stubborn one.
